This section provides safety operating recommendations for the QE3 Screen Remote Controller throughout all phases of mission execution.

Pre-Operation Checklist (Applicable to Unmanned Platforms Such as Drones, Unmanned Ground Vehicles, Unmanned Surface Vessels, and Humanoid Robots)

Equipment and Connections

  • Three-Position Switch Position: Confirm that the switch is not in the unlock position.
  • Remote Controller Battery Level: Confirm that the battery has sufficient charge (recommended > 50%).
  • Unmanned Platform / Robot Battery Level: Confirm that the device performing the mission has sufficient battery charge.
  • Device Connections: Confirm that the QE3 is properly connected to the unmanned platform / robot, data link / data transmission system, ground station, and other required equipment.
  • Data Link Video Feed: Confirm that the data link video feed is stable, with no noticeable latency or stuttering.
  • Firmware and Parameters: Confirm that the firmware version has been tested and verified beforehand and that no critical parameters have been changed inadvertently.

Environment and Safety

  • Weather Conditions: Confirm that the weather is suitable for the operation (including aerial, ground, or surface operations), and avoid extreme weather such as strong winds, heavy rain, and dense fog.
  • No-Fly / Restricted-Operation Zones: Confirm that the operating area is not within a no-fly or restricted-operation zone, and complete any required reporting procedures when necessary.
  • Obstacles: Check the operating radius for obstacles such as high-voltage power lines, tower cranes, and trees.
  • Personnel and Property Safety: Ensure that no unauthorized personnel gather in the operating area, and avoid operating above or in close proximity to densely populated areas.
  • GPS / Positioning: If the mission relies on GNSS positioning, confirm that the signal quality is good.

Precautions During Operation (Applicable to Aerial / Ground / Surface Missions)

Operating Practices

  • Smooth Operation: Avoid large or sudden control-stick movements and maintain smooth control.
  • Monitor Critical Information: Continuously monitor information on the screen, including attitude, altitude, speed, battery level, and signal strength.
  • Maintain Visual Range: Keep the device within visual line of sight whenever possible, using the data link / sensor feeds when necessary.
  • Low-Battery Response: When the battery level of the device or unmanned platform approaches the warning threshold, prioritize safe actions such as returning, stopping, or docking.

Environmental Monitoring

  • Weather Changes: If wind speed increases, rain or snow begins, or other weather changes occur, promptly assess whether to abort the mission.
  • Interference Source Monitoring: Watch for potential sources of interference, such as high-voltage power lines and high-power radio equipment, and adjust the route, altitude, or operating method when necessary.
  • Altitude and Distance Limits: Comply with local regulatory limits on maximum operating altitude, distance, speed, and other parameters.

Abnormal and Emergency Situations

  • Data Link / Remote-Control Signal Loss: Based on the mission configuration, confirm that strategies such as automatic return-to-home and hovering are configured correctly.
  • Low-Battery Warning: Providing a conspicuous warning when the battery level drops below 20% is a recommended strategy,
    and a similar approach is recommended on the QE3: return or end the mission as soon as possible after the battery warning is triggered.
  • Hardware Abnormalities: If an indicator flashes abnormally, the device becomes unusually hot, or the system repeatedly displays errors, abort the mission immediately and investigate the issue.

Post-Operation Inspection and Storage

Equipment Inspection

  • Condition Check: Confirm that the remote controller and the controlled unmanned platform show no obvious external damage.
  • Remaining Battery Level: If the battery level is still relatively high, adjust it in accordance with the battery storage guidelines.
  • Stored Data: Check that critical photos, videos, logs, and other data have been saved properly.
  • Equipment Cleaning: Clean the remote controller and the controlled unmanned platform / robot when necessary to prevent the accumulation of dust and moisture.

Data and Mission Review

  • Data Backup: Back up critical mission data to a secure location.
  • Log Review: Review mission logs as needed (such as flight logs / driving logs / mission logs and alarm logs) to evaluate the mission.
  • Issue Records: Record any issues identified during the mission to provide a basis for future improvements.

Storage and Maintenance

  • Charging and Storage Charge Level: Adjust the battery to an appropriate charge level before storage, as recommended in the battery safety section.
  • Storage Environment: Store the equipment in a dry, cool environment, protected from heavy loads and high temperatures.
  • Regular Maintenance: Schedule periodic inspections, cleaning, and calibration based on frequency of use.

Long-Term Use Recommendations

  • Review the Safety Section Regularly: Reread this chapter whenever starting a new type of mission or when operating conditions change significantly.
  • Firmware and Configuration Management: Retain a stable configuration snapshot for critical missions to avoid unpredictable risks caused by frequent major changes.
