This section uses the Remote Assistant app interface to explain how to view channels, adjust response curves, calibrate the joysticks/switches, and map buttons locally on the device.
All example interfaces are based on the current publicly available firmware. Field names and the number of fields may vary slightly between custom firmware versions.

Remote Assistant Homepage and Channel Overview

Open the "Remote Assistant" icon on the desktop to access the Remote Assistant homepage. The function menu is on the right side of the homepage, while detailed content for the currently selected page is shown on the left.

  • Left side: Shows details for the current function page, such as channel sliders, parameter settings, and buttons (for example, the channel overview and button-mapping matrix);
  • Right side: Contains the function menu, which typically includes entries such as "Remote Control," "Channel Layout," "Button Mapping," "Remote Control Calibration," and "Firmware Upgrade."

On the "Remote Control" page, or a page with a similar name, you can view the current output value of each channel:
When you move a joystick, toggle a switch, or press a button, the corresponding channel changes in real time, allowing you to quickly check whether the system correctly recognizes the physical input.

Note: When Remote Assistant is opened, a parameter-loading process appears at the top. The app can be used normally after the parameters finish loading. screenshot_20260319_103524.jpg

Channel Sliders and Response Curves

On the "Channel Monitor" page, you can see a multi-channel slider interface similar to the one below:

  • Each column typically corresponds to one channel (CH1, CH2, CH3...), with a common value range such as 1100 - 1900;
  • The position of the slider in the middle indicates the current input value, and the upper and lower endpoints correspond to full travel;

Typical usage examples:

  • Check whether a joystick reaches its full limit: Move the joystick to its extreme position. The value of the corresponding channel should be close to the expected endpoint;
  • Check whether a three-position switch works correctly: When you change the switch position, the channel value should switch among three fixed positions;
  • Check for "jitter": When no input is applied, the channel value should remain stable near the center. If it continues to fluctuate, recalibrate it as described in "Joystick Calibration" below and then troubleshoot again.

Recommendation: Before adjusting the response curve or reversing a channel that has a major impact on the flight controller or mission, such as the throttle or safety switch, thoroughly test it on the ground or in a simulated environment.

Joystick Calibration

If a joystick does not return to center, its endpoints are inconsistent, or a channel has a persistent offset, recalibrate it on the "Joystick Calibration" page:

The general calibration procedure is as follows:

  1. Open "Remote Assistant" from the desktop and go to "Channel Calibration";

  2. Release the joysticks and dials, then click Next. screenshot_20260319_104652.jpg

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts in sequence:

    • Move the left and right joysticks through their full travel several times in both the horizontal and vertical directions;
    • Rotate the dials;

  4. After completing all steps, click "Complete Calibration" and wait for the system to report success. Screenshot_20260319-105104.png

Calibration precautions:

  • Make sure the remote controller is placed on a stable surface during calibration and avoid shaking it violently;
  • Do not accidentally press other mission-related buttons during calibration, as this may trigger actions on external devices;
  • After calibration is complete, return to the channel slider page and verify that the center positions and endpoints of all channels are normal;
  • After calibration starts, there is a 1-minute calibration countdown. If you do not click "Complete Calibration" within 1 minute, a calibration timeout message appears and you must restart the calibration process. screenshot_20260319_104804.jpg

Channel and Button Mapping Matrix

On the "Channel Mapping" page, you can see a table/matrix interface similar to the one below:

Examples of common field meanings (refer to the actual interface):

  • Physical control: Such as "Left Joystick X," "Right Joystick Y," "L1," "L2," "L3," "Back Button," and "Top Three-Position Switch";
  • Mapping target: Maps a physical control to an output channel (for example, channel 5 ~ channel 16) or a specific function. Selecting "Unmapped" means that the control does not currently produce an output;
  • Initial Value / Center Value: Specifies the default output of the channel corresponding to the control when no input is applied. To change a channel value, first click Edit. When changing a joystick channel value, click Write; for a non-joystick channel, click Cancel. The channel value can only be changed successfully after doing so;
  • Reverse: When selected, the actual output direction is opposite to the physical input direction;

The general mapping procedure is as follows:

  1. First set the corresponding function button to Unmapped. screenshot_20260319_111806.jpg

  2. At the channel to be mapped, select the function button you want to map. screenshot_20260319_111833.jpg

Configuration recommendations:

  • Fine-tuning the default configuration provided by the technical team is recommended instead of starting from a blank configuration;
  • Do not arbitrarily change the channel or logical meaning of safety-related controls, such as the lock/unlock switch or one-touch Return-to-Home button, unless you have confirmed the change with the flight controller/mission software developer;
  • After modifying the button mapping, use the channel monitoring and calibration functions described in "Channel Sliders and Response Curves" and "Joystick Calibration" in this chapter to verify each item against the actual device;
  • During channel mapping, the channel being mapped should be in the Unmapped state.

Other Settings

In addition to channel, calibration, and button-mapping functions, Remote Assistant typically provides global or channel-level settings related to remote control input, such as:

Typical capabilities include (depending on the actual firmware interface):

  • Control layout selection: Select a layout such as left-hand throttle or right-hand throttle, and keep it consistent with the flight controller settings;
  • Data link and serial ports: Includes data link selection (only one of the internal data link, external data link, or data transmission can operate at the same time), SBUS serial-port mode (when the serial port is selected, it outputs SBUS inverted data), and DEBUG serial-port switching;
  • Input devices and trainer control: After enabling the trainer-control function, you can select Student Mode or Instructor Mode. In Student Mode, only the first 4 channels are active.

Note: The names and visibility of the items above vary by firmware version and system customization. Refer to the interface on the current device. For detailed parameter descriptions, see the accompanying documentation or contact ROBOSN technical support.

Gestures and Safety Recommendations

  • Touch gestures: Gestures such as double-tapping, swiping, and pinching in a mission application are determined by the higher-level mission application. Remote Assistant itself does not provide gesture-editing functions.
  • Complex button mapping: If the button-to-channel mapping has been substantially modified as part of a system extension or customization, practice thoroughly in a non-operational mission environment and confirm that the changes do not affect existing safety policies, such as unlocking, Return-to-Home, and emergency stop.
