First Power-On

This section consolidates the design and usage guidelines from the existing QE3 Wiki and the ROBOSN QE3 Screen Remote Controller for “first power-on” and “basic status bar operations,” helping you complete the entire process from a powered-off state to reaching the desktop.

Preparations Before Power-On

Safety Checks

1. Check the Battery Level

   • Make sure the device has sufficient battery power (recommended: > 20%).
   • If the battery level is too low, charge it first according to the requirements in the “Battery Safety and Charging Guidelines” chapter.

2. Inspect the Exterior and Ports

   • Check that the remote controller enclosure and antennas are intact, with no obvious damage or looseness;
   • Make sure all ports (USB, Ethernet, data link expansion bay, etc.) are free of foreign objects.

3. User Experience and Training Recommendations

   • Before undertaking formal engineering tasks, it is recommended that you first become familiar with the QE3’s functions and safety mechanisms through ground-based practice or simulation.

Power-On Procedure

Step 1: Short-Press, Then Press and Hold the Power Button

• Operation: Short-press the power button once, then press and hold it for typically 3 seconds;
• Feedback: Release the button after you hear a prompt tone or see the power indicators illuminate in sequence until they are all lit.

Note: When the device is in firmware upgrade mode, press and hold the power button directly for typically 3 seconds to power it off.

Step 2: Wait for the System to Start

• Startup time: Typically 25 ~ 30 seconds;
• Startup screen: Displays the brand LOGO and system loading screen;
• Completion indicator: The default desktop or main interface appears.

Initial Power-On Experience and Status Bar Basics

After startup is complete, swipe down to open the system status bar and perform basic checks (based on the actual QE3 interface):

• Brightness slider: Adjusts screen brightness to suit the current ambient lighting;
• Media volume slider: Adjusts the system media volume;
• WLAN (Internet): Turns Wi-Fi on/off and provides access to detailed network settings;
• Bluetooth: Turns Bluetooth on/off for device pairing;
• Location: Turns location services on/off;
• Hotspot: Shares Ethernet or WLAN as a hotspot, depending on the current network connection;
• Screen recording: Starts screen recording as needed for instruction or issue reproduction;
• Other customizable quick settings: Additional controls may be available depending on the firmware and system configuration.

The following figure shows an example of the status bar notifications and Quick Settings panel. The actual items and layout depend on the current firmware:

Details of Typical Status Bar Controls (Examples)

The following descriptions are based on the typical behavior of the current reference firmware. Actual names and interfaces may vary depending on the system.

Bluetooth

• Bluetooth is usually enabled by default and is used to establish Bluetooth connections with other devices;
• Tap the icon in the status bar to quickly turn Bluetooth on/off;
• Press and hold the icon to open “Connected devices.” Tap [Connection preferences] > [Bluetooth] to access the detailed settings page and configure Bluetooth settings.

Location

• Location is usually enabled by default to provide GPS-based positioning;
• Tap the icon in the status bar to quickly turn location services on/off;
• Press and hold the icon to open the detailed “Location” settings page, where you can configure the location mode, permissions, and other options.

Screen Recording

• Screen recording is disabled by default;
• Tap the “Screen recording” icon in the status bar to open the recording control pop-up. Select options such as “Record audio” and “Show touches” as needed, then start recording;
• After recording starts, the status bar displays the active recording status. You can stop the recording there and save the video.

Font Size

• Tap “Font size” in the status bar to open the font-size settings. The default value is usually 100%;
• 5 levels are typically available (for example, 85%, 100%, 115%, 130%, and 150%) and can be adjusted as needed;
• Press and hold the relevant control to access the more detailed “Display size and text” settings page, where you can adjust the text size and interface element scaling separately.

Hotspot

• The hotspot is disabled by default;
• Tap the icon to quickly turn the device’s hotspot on or off;
• Press and hold the icon to open the detailed “WLAN hotspot” configuration page, where you can change the hotspot name, password, and other settings;
• When Ethernet is enabled, the system prioritizes bridging hotspot traffic to the Ethernet interface. When Ethernet is disabled, the hotspot is usually bridged to the currently connected WLAN network to provide local network access for other devices.

Detailed network and debugging settings (such as Ethernet, USB mode, and ADB debugging) can be adjusted in the system settings as needed. For more information, see “Network and Communication Settings” in the subsequent “Remote Controller Assistant - System Function Settings” chapter.

Post-Startup Checks

1. Screen display:

   • Make sure the screen shows no abnormal prompts or obvious bright / dead pixels;
   • Make sure touch operations respond normally. If there are any issues, contact ROBOSN technical support.

2. Indicator Status and Basic Self-Test:

   • Make sure the power indicator shows the normal powered-on state;
   • Perform a simple swipe / tap test on the touchscreen;
   • If a data link / unmanned platform is connected, verify that its connection status is normal.
