Mesh Network Configuration Quick Start Guide for Beginner Users

Tip

Before proceeding with this chapter, ensure that you have read the "Unboxing Guide" and "Interface Description" chapters and completed the basic assembly of and familiarization with LQ-Mesh.

Mesh is a multi-node, centerless, self-organizing wireless multi-hop communication network. Any wireless device node in the network can act as a router to transmit and receive signals, and can dynamically maintain communication connections with any one or more other nodes in any manner.

Preparation Before Configuration

  • LQ-Mesh Data Link Station Unit Preparation
  • Connect the Ethernet cable supplied with the LQ-Mesh Data Link Station Unit to the unit's Ethernet port and the laptop computer.
  • Briefly press the power button. After you hear a beep, press and hold the button until the operating indicator flashes, indicating that the device has entered operating mode.

  • LQ-Mesh Data Link Mobile Unit Preparation
  • Connect the Ethernet cable supplied with the LQ-Mesh Data Link Mobile Unit to the unit's Ethernet port and the laptop computer.
  • Connect the power cable supplied with the LQ-Mesh Data Link Mobile Unit to the charging port, and set the supply voltage to 12V~18V.

Mesh Network Configuration Procedure

  1. First, prepare two or more LQ-Mesh devices. Designate one as the LQ-Mesh primary device (AP unit) and two (or more) as LQ-Mesh secondary devices (STA units).

  2. Connect the LQ-Mesh primary device to a power supply or turn it on. Do not exceed the voltage range, as doing so will damage the device.

  3. Connect the LQ-Mesh Ethernet cable to your computer. Before proceeding, ensure that you know how to configure a static IP address in Windows. Refer to the following link for instructions: https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/607778502.

  4. Set the computer's IP address to 192.168.1.123, the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, and the gateway to 192.168.1.1. image.png

  5. Open a web browser on the computer, enter 192.168.1.200 in the address bar, and press Enter. The LQ-Mesh management page opens; if the interface shown below appears, the operation was successful. If you cannot access the web page, go to <<Firmware Upgrade and Recovery>>, restore the factory settings using the hardware method, and then access the web page again.

  1. Click "Network Settings" in the navigation bar on the left to open the Network Settings page.

  1. Keep the settings in the red box below consistent with those shown in the image. Click "Save" and then click "Restart."

  1. Connect the two LQ-Mesh secondary devices to the computer using the method above. Open the web management page, then click "Network Settings" in the navigation bar on the left to open the Network Settings page.

  2. Keep the settings in the red box below consistent with those shown in the image. Click "Save" and "Restart." Note: Modify the ESSID and password as appropriate for your setup, but ensure that the ESSID and password are identical on all devices participating in the network.

Tip

To add more devices to the network, repeat steps 8 and 9, incrementing the IP address in the "Local IP Address" field on the web page for each additional device.
  1. Wait for the devices to connect successfully. They can then communicate with one another.

How to Determine Whether the Mesh Network Devices Are Connected Successfully

  1. Physical check: The LQ unit has a built-in signal indicator. When the indicator remains steadily lit, the device is connected successfully. When the indicator flashes, the device has no connection.

  2. Web page check:

  • Connect to the primary device via its Ethernet port (IP:192.168.1.200): Click "Online Information" in the navigation bar on the left to open the Network Settings page. Check whether the "IP Address" section contains the IP address information for the primary device and both secondary devices, and verify that all device statuses are online.

  • Connect the Ethernet cable to the primary device (AP device): You should be able to access the web page of any secondary device (that is, 192.168.1.201 or 192.168.1.202).

  1. Ping command check: Use the ping command on the computer to test whether the IP addresses of the primary device and the secondary devices can be reached. If the addresses can be reached, the two devices are connected successfully.
