Flight Path Planning Instructions

The following route planning instructions are based on QGC 3.5.6 Ground Control Station

I. Setting Waypoints

  1. Open QGC, select the A-B icon and click.
  1. Click File > Clear Vehicle Mission to remove historical mission data.

Click "Yes" in the upper right corner to confirm mission clearance.

  1. Click Waypoints to set flight path.

When the waypoint icon lights up, click sequentially on the map to set multiple waypoints, forming the desired flight path. Click on a placed waypoint (changes from yellow to green) to adjust its position. As shown below:

The flight path shown below is arbitrarily set for demonstration purposes. Actual operations should always consider mission distance for safety.

II. Setting Parameters (Altitude, Speed, Hover Time)

  1. In Mission Start, altitude and speed settings apply to all waypoints. Check "Return to Launch" to enable automatic return to takeoff point after mission completion.
  1. Each waypoint can have individual altitude/speed settings (override global values). Click the three-line icon on the right of each waypoint for advanced settings like waypoint deletion. "Hold" sets hover duration (seconds) at current waypoint.
  1. Under Waypoint Type in each waypoint's settings (default: Basic category):
  • Waypoint: Standard navigation point
  • Return To Launch: Return to takeoff point
  • Land: Initiate landing procedure
  • Takeoff: Set as takeoff point
  1. As shown below, setting first point as Takeoff, second and third as Waypoints with "Return to Launch" enabled will make the drone:
  1. Takeoff 2) Fly to Waypoint 2 3) Proceed to Waypoint 3 4) Return to launch point after completing mission. Always click "Upload Required" to save parameters to flight controller after any modifications.
  1. Click the aircraft icon to enter map interface. Swipe to initiate autonomous mission execution.
